Overview

The Bijli Mahadev Trek is a perfect blend of spiritual experience and scenic Himalayan trekking, ideal for beginners and short-duration trekkers. This 1 night 2 days trek starts from the quaint Chansari Village in Kullu, offering trekkers a serene trail surrounded by lush deodar forests, breathtaking valley views, and an aura of divine energy.

At the heart of the Bijli Mahadev Trek Kullu Manali lies the ancient and sacred Bijli Mahadev Temple, perched at an altitude of around 2,460 meters. Known for its mystical lightning phenomenon, the temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a spiritual wonder. Local legend says that lightning strikes the Shivling inside the temple every few years, which then breaks and is miraculously repaired using butter by the temple priest. This phenomenon is what gives the temple its name — Bijli meaning lightning and Mahadev referring to Lord Shiva.

The Bijli Mahadev Trek in Himachal Pradesh is relatively easy and well-suited for families, solo travelers, and groups. It takes around 3–4 hours to ascend from Chansari Village to the temple, with panoramic views of the Kullu Valley, Parvati Valley, and Beas River making every step worthwhile. The trek offers a peaceful camping experience near the temple, where trekkers can soak in the divine vibes under a starry Himalayan sky.
