The Beas Kund Trek is one of the most popular treks in Manali which takes one to the origin of the river Beas at an altitude of 12,772 feet and to many of the ancient glaciers located around it.

Mythology has it that Beas Rishi meditated here and wrote the epic Mahabharata. Beas kund is a magical place, which is surrounded by the peak of Hanuman Tibba, Ladakhi peak, Manali peak, Muker beh, Sheti Dhar peak and the well known Friendship Peak. There are cascading waterfalls on the way and crystal-clear lake called as Beas Kund.

The route to Beas Kund starts near Solang nallah. The trail to Beas kund from Solang Nallah is approximately 15 kms long. A jeep road goes up to Dhundi from Solang Nallah where the SASE, Manali, has a study unit. Route to Beas Kund is three days average trek, that will take us through snow fields (in winter) moraines, meadows, over boulders and glaciers. .

Day 1: Palchan Base Camp – Anjani Mahadev

  • Arrival at the Palchan Base Camp and After Lunch you will be out for a short trek to Anjani Mahadev.
  • Anjani Mahadev is a religious place in the Solang Valley. Like Amarnath in Kashmir, here also, a Him Shivlinga appears in an icy cave.
  • While coming back you halt at Solang which is a hub of adventure and fun activities. By evening you will be back at Campsite.

Day 2: Trek to Beas Kund

  • Have your breakfast at 6 am in the morning and also collect a packet of pack lunch for the day. After breakfast you board a jeep/taxi to reach at Dhundhi, the road head place from where Beas Kund Trek starts.
  • Within half an hour you will be at Dhundhi. Altitude of Dhundhi is 9000 ft. The route from Dhundhi to Beas Kund is through meadows, boulders, rocks and snow along the river Beas.
  • After a trek of 4-5 hours you will see the beautiful lake of Beas Kund. After spending few hours at Beas Kund you descend down to Dhundhi.
  • From Dhundhi you will again board the same vehicle to reach at the Palchan Base Camp.

Day 3: Departure from Manali

  • As the Volvo Buses to Delhi leaves Manali in evening only; you have free time till afternoon.
  • So you can choose to have a good long rest to recover from previous day’s exertion or have a stroll on Mall Road Manali or can book a taxi for local sightseeing around Manali.
  • Departure after Lunch
